True Blood

Postby Viper » Thu Aug 20, 2009 5:12 am

Is it okay to have a True Blood thread? Will it just be me, Girl and Ratgirl in here? Even so, I felt I'd better make a thread before I ramble for three thousand years in Hasbands about Eric Northman and his probably massive Swedish schlong.

Or similar.

So True Blood...any serious thoughts? Aside the thoughts on schlongs? Though thoughts on schlongs are also welcome. Bits people liked? Bits people didn't? Things people hope for?

Personally I'm hoping that Eric Northman will sail his longboat up my fjord, as someone somewhere else suggested, but I'm sure other people have saner thoughts. Like feck me, Ryan Kwanten's accent is incredible.
Hello my darling it's me again. Where are you?

It could get funnier if we keep doing it.

Oh dear, I fear I shall seem a downer. :(

I have been following True Blood, and look forward to seeing it every week. However, I am about ready to leap through the screen and stake Beeeeiiilll...with Sookie. I hate, hate, HATE them both. At the end of last season I only greatly disliked them, but with each passing episode (eppy 9 just aired here), that feeling has only grown. Here is every Bill/Sookie scene ever shown:

Bill: Sookie, please don't walk straight into obvious danger.
Sookie: Bill, you don't understand! I have to. It's the right thing to do.
Bill: Sookie, it's not. It doesn't even make sense! In fact, it's probably a trap.
Sookie: Bill, you don't remember what it's like to be human.
Bill: Sookie, I am just trying to protect you.
Sookie: I can take care of myself, and if you can't understand that, maybe you don't deserve to be with me.
Bill: Huh?
Sookie: You heard me, Bill Compton. We're through! I never want to see you again!
Bill: Sookie?
=Sookie walks straight into obvious danger and gets into trouble...obviously=
Sookie: Bill!!! Help!!!
Bill: I'm a-comin'!
=Bill, the retard who apparently can only think with his undead willy, races to her side and rescues her by glaring menacingly at the threat=
Sookie: Oh Bill, I was so scared. I'm sorry. Let's never fight again.
=They have sex=
The End.

I just find it so repetitive and dull. And I don't feel that either of their characters are really strong enough to carry the show, as they were meant to first season. Thank the gods some focus has been transferred to other characters this year. Jason is coming along nicely, as are Lafayette and Tara. The standout, though, for me, has been the luscious Eric. I thought he'd already been claimed or I might have raced here to do it myself. Won't give anything specific away, but let me just advise you ladies to watch future episodes while seated on a bin bag. Woof!

On the whole, I find the show very hit and miss. When it's on, it's very on, but when it's off, it's all I can do to sit through it. Thankfully it's on frequently enough that I'm still tuning in. Hell, at this rate, I'd tune in just to watch Eric level his seductive gaze at a bowl of fruit loops! =major droolage!=

EDIT: LOVING Jessica's storyline, too. Gods, it's so...well, I won't say, in case of spoilers. But it is!

Voodoo Lady, you are spot on when it comes to the whole Sookie succubus and Bill relationship. It does start to get tiresome. And Bill's hair! Who is responsible for styling his hair?! It looks like he flew straight out of LegoLand!
Image

But I still loves you, Bill Compton! Especially during flashbacks when you are a sexy and your have your hair tamed so it doesn't look like you are wearing a helmet.

Only three more episodes left of the season! Which I suppose is a good thing because I don't think my poor heart can take being visually sexed to death by Eric.
Oh my! In the last episode did you girls check out that look that he gives the camera as Sookie attempts to "save his life" ?? !! I almost leapt on my tv right then and there and simulated coitus.

What what what???? I thought no-one had replied to this thread! Stupid View New Posts button, all making me think that no-one cared about True Blood!

Bill: I'm a-comin'!
=Bill, the retard who apparently can only think with his undead willy, races to her side and rescues her by glaring menacingly at the threat=
Sookie: Oh Bill, I was so scared. I'm sorry. Let's never fight again.

The End.

 You nailed it! They seem to fight about nothing a lot, too. It makes me exhausted just watching them. I bet Eric wouldn't even argue. He'd either kill you, or ignore your squawking. He'd probably laugh when you ran off into the woods to get killed.

Oh, Eric.

Jason is coming along nicely, as are Lafayette and Tara. The standout, though, for me, has been the luscious Eric.

You've just named almost every reason I watch. Only Sam is missing. Jason is just...the guy who plays him is phenomenal. To get that accent right, to nail Jason's vacant expressions when he doesn't understand something...he's very good. Where did they find these actors? Tara's eye acting is also amazing. She should be irritating, but her hurt eyes sell it. And Lafeyette is soooo charismatic.

And then there's Sam and Eric. Who should be made into a new flavour of sandwich, immediatly. The Samric. When spoiler slid down Sam's spoiler to give him a spoiler, I almost died. Similarly when spoiler spoiler Eric spoiler. Sam just seems so...ripe and ruddy. And Eric is so...Stellan. Argh, I love that TV shows and movies are now paying more attention to what women/gay men might want to see.

As for the look he gives Sookie, Girl:

Personally I swooned more deeply when he was on the rooftop, crying. In Swedish. And begging. In Swedish. In a high pitched voice. I fell hard for him, right there.

But Sam, Eric and JASON are love.

So I guess lots of people feel this way???? How weird, to have a show where people hate the leads but adore everyone else!

I've avoided this programme for fear of the Twilights but I've heard so many people talk about it I might need to see it after all.

I can't believe you just mentioned that! When I last posted here I wanted to write about that exact scene so much that I nearly exploded trying to restrain myself for fear that I would give away crucial Eric info.
I know True Blood airs Sunday nights here in the US, what is the airing schedule in the UK? That way we can all be on the same page and I won't have to worry about restraining myself.

I love how Season 2 has far surpassed season 1. How I really didn't care for Jason in season 1 but now his vacant stares and his meat head innocence is completely endearing. And his accent is amazing! I was completely surprised that he was Australian in real life!
Lafayette is completely brilliant as well. I am so glad that he is coming back out of his shell after being "captured" and starting to be himself again.
The whole scene with Tara in the last episode...I think tiny love hearts went off around my head during that scene. Oh! And I almost forgot about earlier in the season when Eric heals him and he starts humping the floor and furniture and says I just want to dance! And Eric just sits on the chair and says in his cool voice "I'm so pleased for you." *screams* I love him!

*takes a bite of Samric sandwich* I can't wait to watch more!

Before I read any more of this thread, as I fear spoilers, where about is everyone up to?
I've literally just finished watching the first episode. I wanna watch up to where you guys are so I can come back in here without the fear.
Thanks

Riggghht I shall read through my fingers then :D
Watched the first 2 episodes now. I'm not sure if I'm loving or hating. It's more 'adult' than I thought it would be. That's a whole lot of humping!!!! Will take a few more viewings for a proper opinion me thinks.

Meh, I really need to catch up before reading this thread! I'm still only 4 episodes in. Maybe the bank holiday weekend will provide ample opportunity... I don't mind Sookie and Bill that much so far. But I couldn't say I actually *like* either of them!

I'm almost finished the first series. I still don't know if I'm liking or hating it. It certainly interests me for sure. Curious to see how the first series ends.

That's how I felt about it and how I continue to feel about it. I keep watching, I keep looking forward to watching, but at the end of nearly every episode I find myself thinking, "That was it?" Even so, I'm about to go in search of this week's episode. ;)

Also, I have no desire to read the books, but I just joined a book club, and guess what the first assignment is. :P So I guess I'll have something to say about that soon, too.

Finished the first season and might get started on the second tonight. Liked the way they left it. And curious to see where they take it. I still don't want to read too much of this thread incase of guessing things to come. I will say though I aint a huge fan of Sookie but don't dislike her. Just find her a bit of a pr*ck tease to be honest.
