I looked but couldn't find, but I'm sure we used to have a thread here about, well, well known people passing on.

So, unless anyone can point me in the right direction, here's a replacement thread.

Levi Stubbs. I didn't know that much about him, but one of my favourite films ever is 'Little Shop of Horrors' and he was the voice of Audrey II. I listened to the soundtrack last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hadn't listened to it for ages. Spooky.

His voice was like dark chocolate.

It's sad about Levi Stubbs

I saw him perform as part of the four tops when i was on holiday 9 years ago. Great music.

I loved him as the voice of Aurdrey II.

Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park has died, aged 66, 2008 after a private battle against cancer.

He penned the books Congo, Twister and the popular Jurassic Park trilogy, all of which were adapted into films.

He also created the long-running US hospital drama ER and his books have sold more than 150 million copies worldwide.

Crichton has won an Emmy, a Peabody, and a Writer's Guild of America Award for ER.

I know it's pretty shallow, but Michael Crichton did SO not look 66! He looked about 40! Weird!

Yeah, I was surprised when I heard how old he was, too. I used to looooooove his books as a kid, so I was saddened when I heard the news.

No - really?? Aww bless you Bettie. She had a hard life in some ways - fame, family issues and mental health problems. But she was always something lovely, wasn't she? A light amid the sleaze and insincerity that surrounded her.

RIP Harold Pinter
I found this really sad, because it wasn't until I went to see No Man's Land that I realised Pinter was actually still doing so much (probably cos most of the plays I've read of his are the early ones, so I tended to think of him in the past tense anyway). So, I just realised he was very much around - and he's gone! I find his plays strangely comforting...

Plus he was a Hackney man!
