Alright, based on the rantings of *ahem* a few of you ;), I have decided to give Supernatural another chance. I didn't realize I'd stopped watching so near the end of the first season. Turns out I was only two episodes away from finishing. Anyway, the things that bugged me about it still bug me, but I am trying to turn that part of my brain off and view it as simply guilty pleasure telly, and from that perspective, I'm liking it. I'm only a couple episodes into second season, and I hear it gets better from here, so I remain hopeful. One thing the show has always done well, imho, and continues to, is provide properly chilling scares, which can be hard to do in these desensitized days, so kudos there.

One thought that might make Katie explode at least a little: I think, PNW, you need a moving gif avvie of Dean repeatedly bashing his car in episode 2:02. It reminded me of Astrid's gif of a certain detective we all are so enamored with of late. ;)

Supernatural fans, why is Sam in a cast in eppy 2:6? Did something happen that I forgot? (I'm not always entirely sober when watching.) Or did the actor have an injury that they were hoping viewers wouldn't notice?

In the show a zombie broke his arm (I think that is what happened anyway. It was a woman and she get grrr and he went ahhh). I think he has the cast for a good few episodes too.

And a moving avatar of Dean doing anything would be ridiculously hot but yes, him going Dean!SMASH on the Impala would be yummmmmmmm.

And for me Supernatural really hit its stride in series 3. Series 1 is how series often start off, the episodes are more stand alone and the backstory to everything is quite simple and linear. Series 2 I enjoyed but Series 3 you (hopefully you will) 'get it' and Sam and Dean grab you and wont let you go.
My manager at work loves Supernatural and I have lent him a couple of series (I have the 1-6 boxset). We have fun chats about how much we love it.
And I totally agree about you with it having some properly spooky moments. Thank God the producers decided to go for that, I think it has meant that the audience isn't just fangirlies drooling over the brothers & the angels but also men who want to watch a show about 2 men seriously kicking the shit out of properly scary monsters.

I have to admit I have never watched any Supernatural and don't know anything about it at all.

DOI - won't say too much until VL has watched but jeez, what a tough ask this week.

Also guilty pleasure TV - Vampire Diaries is starting up again soon.

Also TV wise still loving HIMYM, Castle and Modern Family. Tempted to chat about them in the comedy section but not sure who else is watching them, could just end up talking to myself (not unknown to happen).

LOL Talk away. I watch HIMYM and Castle. And I know what you mean about talking to myself. I feel I do that a lot.

Re cast: I'm not remembering that. I will totally take your word on it. I'm all "when were there zombies recently?"

Oh, and also with the Supernatural: I'm sort of disappointed in Amber Benson for jumping on the "I need to be far too skinny in order to have a career" bandwagon. I get it; I live here, and the pressure to be rail thin is immense. But I respected that she was a normal-sized woman who had made a name for herself in H-wood. I think she looks awful now. :/

I agree with you about Amber Benson, VL. It is a shame :( But funnily enough she was the reason I started watching SPN - I found out she was going to be in an episode and watched it, and well, the rest is history :P

PNW - have you been watching season 7? I'm really quite curious to see where they're taking it.

I've recently been watching the animated version of Napoleon Dynamite, has anyone else seen this? It's actually pretty funny :P They've even managed to get most of the original cast in for the voices which is a bonus.

Something else I've been watching is Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy series - whoa O_O It's quite... well, insane doesn't quite cover it :P But I'm actually enjoying it, despite wishing it could have been another Boosh series instead (no Julian :( But Mike Fielding, Dave Brown and Rich Fulcher have all made appearances, hmm...)

I have been yes and at first it hugely disappointed me. 2 main reason which I am sure you can guess.
I have cried like a baby a few times this series and I thought I had to stick with it to see how they concluded the series. I like that they have left 'the big bads' alone recently as I am NOT a fan of them, just hasn't worked for me at all.
I LOVED the last episode, Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magic Menagerie. So funny :D
I have got this weeks to watch, will be watching today after I have cleaned the bathroom (I can't be bothered to clean the bathroom so this is my motivation for being good). And erm.... episode 17 *wibbles* I HOPE it is good. Really good.

I too was disappointed re Amber Benson. You can see it with almost everyone even slightly different. They start out different and you think "Yay! Maybe this will get more people to be themselves" and then a few years down the lane you look back at the person and they're blonde, orange and rail thin :x At least Helena Bonham Carter is still rocking the 'different' look.

And I LOVE Napoleon Dynamite, I did not know there was a cartoon. Must check it out :D

Yeah there have been quite a few tear-jerky moments this season. I agree about the "big bad" episodes - and even if they have had some, they've still tried to tie them back in with the main storyline in some small way or another.

I LOVED the last episode, Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magic Menagerie. So funny :D

That was one of the best and funniest episodes I've ever seen  I love how imaginative their episode titles tend to be as well :P

Ah, hope you like it! There's going to be another "Hellatus" (hiatus) for a few weeks, gah! >_< I'm trying to avoid spoilers - it's made the show so much more enjoyable - although some of them do manage to find their way past my "blinkers" :P

It happens a lot, it's true... Thora Birch is another example - I loved her look in 'Ghost World', but recently I've seen some pics of her as a blonde and eh... she doesn't look as good to me as she does as a brunette. I guess that's just personal preference really, but it does seem to be the case for a lot of actresses, particularly from the US :?

And I LOVE Napoleon Dynamite, I did not know there was a cartoon. Must check it out :D

Definitely  It's silly, as one might expect, but still good :P

Is Amber in Supernatural? I didn't know that. I have just started season 6 and for the first time really I've been disappointed in where they've taken it. Although perhaps I am being precious about it always being Sam and Dean together (with help from a few others) but I suppose they have to try and go to different places and I'm hoping it will get back to a more normal set up soon. I have to say though I loved it from the start. Never had any problems with it. I love the inventiveness of some of the eps.

I almost hated LC at first because one of the first things they showed was that awful cooking scene which was long and boring and really not my sense of humour. But I've stuck with it and although I don't really find it funny I can still enjoy it. I like all the bits with Noel at his desk the best. I generally record it so I can fastforward any tedious bits.

Yeah, the stuff with Skinner from X-Files I HATED. Bloody awful. To go from my favourite series 5 to the crap that half of series 6 is, made me really sad.
The sidelining of Cas for some episodes made me really sad too. They'd made me fall in love with him and then to forget about him was not on.
The second half of the series gets good and you have a fabulous episode called 'The French Mistake'. Some of that made me laugh like a loon, the comedy acting in that from Jared, Jensen and Misha is brilliant.

=covering eyes for supernatural talk=

DOI. Wow. Just...wow. Before he bit it, he totally had it in the bag, no question. So many (negative) firsts! Never had someone completely forget the routine. Never had a grown man in tears, as far as I can recall. What a horrible, horrible, night for Dancing on Ice. Although I did chuckle when Chris said, "It was Jane's idea." Chuckled through tears, but still chuckled.

I wonder if they're asking themselves if they've finally pushed folks too far. Like Robin said, these aren't professionals; you can't expect professional results.

Yes, where is he? To be fair I've only seen ep 1 and 2 but sounds like he is gone for a while. I started to fall for him when they had him in different realities and drunk etc. So cute.

I shall look forward to that ep then. I'm concerned because my sky box is basically full because I'm recording series of stuff so I really need to focus on watching some of that so Supernatural may go out the window a bit but I'm hoping I can watch bits and combine it with other stuff. It's annoying though because I so want to be up to season 7.

DOI - I know! I was absolutely gutted. He was a cert and then he messed it up and put himself out of the competition. (Although if I was a judge I would have been tempted to save him anyway!) Such a shame. I really liked his performances. Was heart-breaking how upset he was too. I saw him on a morning tv show the next day though and he was fine and accepted it. Took it graciously so credit to him for that.

Okay, have never thought Sam Winchester was anything more than an adorable puppy. Evol Sam, though? Whoooooooweee! I tell ya, it's not about evil for me, but give a man a bit of backbone, and yum!

Hollywood Babylon (Supernatural) was awesome. So funny. I love that McG can poke fun at himself.
