Yates told Variety that the show "Needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena," and that they won't be adapting the current series but starting "from scratch."

I can see how this can be interpreted different ways, but to me it feels strongly like they're rebooting the concept as Hollywood has done so many times before. Sometimes it can be successful, as with Star Trek or Batman, but sometimes it just plain sucks, like Superman Returns.

I hope it's NOT a reboot.
Is there any point?
No.
None at all.
I have heard that they've scrapped the 13 regenerations thing so why on Gallifrey would they want to start again?
It's just an excuse for a glizty pile of shit starring Robert Pattinson or some other plank of wood who looks pretty but is in actual fact f*cking rubbish at conveying any sort of emotion (yes I am basing this on the HOUR of Twilight that I put myself through before the urge to commit Hari Kiri became too strong and I turned off and looked for a bread knife). Hell, even with someone who CAN act it would be crap.

Doctor Who is perfect as a continuing series, different adventures and scenarios each week, not a 2 hour crap fest and then a 2 year wait for his next adventure.

You know what, I hope they DO make it and it's horrific because I will laugh and point and then go watch some Tennant and feel smug.

Somehow we HAVE to make it happen. I don't know how but I am willing to go AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH until it does. He'd be PERFECT.

Oh definitely! Much better than certain other people anyway ;) I wonder if he could put on a convincing English accent....? ;)

(and I wonder if he even knew what the sonic screwdriver was, lol!)

I had a funny turn just then thinking about him doing his growly voice but with an English accent!

Hmmmm O_O !!!

I'd love to meet him at a convention... Maybe I could get him to pose with a classic Dr Who sonic screwdriver, bahaha ;) (and ask him to put on an English accent so I could hear what he sounded like ;) )

Another pretty brilliant Christmas special. Loved that Bill Bailey was in it, but wished they'd given him more to do. I thought the whole, "My husband was a pilot; I should be able to drive this giant space robot" business was kind of stupid. Also, while I know they sort of had to bring the husband back for Christmas, I kind of wished they hadn't. It just seemed too neat and tied up. Just like a Christmas pressie, I suppose. ;)

Well, i was bound to like it as it had Alexander Armstrong looking hot

Spoilers for those who haven't seen it

I liked the husband coming back (maybe because i am a big softie  ) Not enough Bill Bailey though. Loved Rory and Amy at the end and the silence before Amy and The Doctor hugged  )

Totally agree with the above. Liked it and it did what I thought a Christmas Special would do. Although I realised when watching it that I couldn't actually remember how the last series ended. Think it was all a little confusing to stick in my mind. Oh wells *shrugs*. Still great and waiting for more.

Meeting Tony Curran at the weekend. Anything you want me to pass along, Poz?

Oooo, I see that Paul McGann and husband Eric Roberts will be there, too. Actually, quite a few people will be, including Jane Espenson. Would LOVE to meet W. Morgan Shepard.

Awwwww! Our little LA con is growing up! I remember when it was held in a foul smelling, mildewing hotel in the middle of nowhere in the Valley with no big named guests and attended only by a few sad stragglers wearing tatty Tom Baker scarves and far too little deodorant.
