Yeah, be warned you can't be payed until you have done the online thing. Actually I think it's good and shows you how diverse our business is.

Yeah, I'm getting f*cked about with my number, they keep saying "we'll give it to you tomorrow" and haven't  They've said Tuesday now. I will be having firm words if they don't. I might be a student worker but I'm a human being and wasn't born yesterday...

I've been self-employed doing something I used to love since I left university in 2006. But it's terrible now and I'm leaving once I've finished my last project. Which does mean canning a project I've also been working on for 4 years but hey, I don't want to go into details but there were many connections to British comedy. As a worldwide product I was hoping it would introduce people to these wonderful things.

Also just done some preliminary training to be a lecturer at college. It's not official yet but fingers crossed! I would love a proper 9-5 job for once, given I'm still not quite out of my student days  .

I am just thankful to have a week off work at the moment. Christmas was extremely busy so after the xmas break i hoped it would be much nicer. *beep* no, because of the snow it messed everything up all last week and the week before, causing so much angst and stressed between me, my boss and my collegues. The horrible part was continually ring 200+ customers EVERY DAY to say their shopping was not being delivered. I don't see why that company which i won't name didn't just close the website down and sort out everyone effected the week before instead of fobbing them off and try and get another tie slot a week later, only to be told a week later they are not getting it again. Tis crap as *beep*.
This week i am just chillaxing and not worrying about work what so ever. *sigh* Maybe i should start looking again but i get lazy and just find myself not doing this, hmm

I've got to start looking for a new job.
I'd actually rather work for the National Socialist Party (and I made a comment to such effect).
Can't do it anymore.
So it's either
A: Find a new job
2: Win the lottery
iii. Marry David Tennant and have his babies and not need to work cos he's rich and wouldn't want me to work if it made me sad. He's kind like that.

Who's with me on iii then?

Have either of you thought about joining some agencies? Most of the temping agencies do permanent jobs as well. If you send your CV around a few and tell them what you're interested in (even if it's that you're after anything!), then they call you if something they think fits comes up and send your details off for you. It's worth a try? Especially if you want to get out of the evols of customer service, PNW? What's also good is that many of them ask you to come and do tests on various computer packages which are super EASY. I learnt how to do loads of things on Word and Excel (like mail merges - I love mail merges now!), simply through working it out from their tests. Then they think you're amazing at IT. :D

Seems to be a trend for my friends and me at the moment that our job situations are bad - two of my friends are unemployed, my b/f hates his job and I want more hours at mine. It's frustrating. But I'm hoping that things will look up soon.

I'm going to talk with my manager on Friday to sort something out, because it's not fair that my shifts are cut back so much to cater for the younger, lesser paid workers. But that's being on casual rates for you  My payrate might be higher but the benefits are non-existent. So... fingers crossed I can be put up to part-time soon...

I'm working in a supermarket as a "checkout chick" - yes, crap really but I wanted to get into retail and this is where I've wound up :P I've been doing more of the scanning/tickets/pricing stuff of late though which is what I want to get into.

But it's just become even worse now. I was meant to go in today to actually do the scanning stuff but was told I wasn't needed as often, that they'll only need me to do it once a month, so I'm not required to go in. I'm not happy about this at all since that means I've only worked one shift this week. It's lucky I have savings and still live at home otherwise I'd be completely broke *sigh*

I think though, if I sign up to do the retail course they run through the company, I could be put onto part-time, so I'm going to do that and see what happens. Hopefully that'll make a difference, because if I'm on part-time I have to work a set number of hours which means they won't be able to cut me back or call me in at the last minute.

It's just frustrating though really, since I'm one of the higher paid people who works there. Whenever it's the school holidays we always get cut back for the younger school kids, because obviously they're not paid as much so they don't have to worry about their stupid "budget" being blown. But I figure if they put me up to part-time they wouldn't have to pay me as much so it'd probably work out a bit better for them to give me more shifts (over here the pay-rate for casual is higher than part-time, but as a casual we don't get benefits like leave with pay, etc...)

So yeah... that's basically my current situation.

Wow... just under a month after I posted that and things seem to be looking up for me :) The girl who was doing the scanning/tickets stuff where I work has been offered a position elsewhere and is leaving, so I'm going to be taking over from her next week. I'm nervous as well as excited about this because it not only means more hours, it also means a permanent part-time position which is what I've been aiming for. So... yay, here's hoping I'll actually be able to handle this stuff and not mess anything up O_O
