i m having trouble uploading an avatar from my machine - what am i doing wrong?

good to here others are in the same boat ... i found the best picture ever but its too big.. It Pam dressed as a Nazi with a big cheesy grin.

I have others too ... and would love to use them but i am having trouble. But until the gremlins are sorted, i'll stick with Tubbs.

Sefi, yours might just be a size problem.

If it's animated you can re-size it online at www.gifworks.com

If that doesn't work, then it looks like a generic problem with the uploading of images to the site.

I'm going to send the info that Voodoo Lady sent me to papalazarou, as he's the site owner and should know more about what's happening...I hope!

BINGO!!!! I've solved all our problems as you can see from my avatar! Click on the following link: http://tinypic.com/ here you can upload a small avatar for free from your comp. Then just cut and paste the link it gives you into the 'Off Site' address in the avatar section.

PS - all the Avatars are all really good on this thread. GOOD JOB! I didn't design mine at all - i got it from Avatarity.com which have some good ones in case anyone wants to look.

Mine wasn't a size problem, as I've kept under the limit, but as long as it's up there, I don't care *what* was happening.

For all I know, it may just be my dumb computer-related luck. Eddie Izzard talks about techno-fear vs. techno-joy. I have techno-joy, but all too often "techno" seems to fear *me*. :lol:

How do you know you are choosing one no one uses(aprt from looking through all the posts).Plus how do you down load it any way?

Sorry I've been ignoring this thread, the limitations on uploading your avatar are: Must be no bigger than 10000bytes and 100x150px in size (HxW), so that might have the problem. If not I'll look into it.
