Won't say anything about Freak Show just yet, as it's only two episodes in, and I don't know how I feel about it yet. Plus you haven't got it yet, so....

I friggin' LOVE AHS, and yes, Jessica Lange rules. Murder House is still my favorite one. It was properly terrifying, and I still can't watch the opening because it creeps me out so completely. It's that music! I watch the opening for each season once to say I've seen it, and then speed through or mute it the rest of the time. Creepy!

I thought Asylum was mostly wank, as they tried to do to many different things all at once, but Coven came back strong.

I haven't seen Coven, keep waiting for it to appear on Netflix or the like. That's the bonus of the shows not being linked, I can watch Freak Show regardless.

It's a bizarre show as some of it is ridiculous, like the acting is hammy but on purpose, but it is totally addictive.

I shall keep mum, then! And yes, that's part of the brilliance of the show.

Yes! I ADORE Frances Conroys character's, all of them. They are all bizarre in their own way, and yet I somehow believe them. I would have never dreamed that the mum from Six Feet Under could work so well on a show like this, but then I guess that's why they call it "acting", eh? ;)

Quinto in Asylum, utterly brilliant and terrifying. Boy he does killer so well. And still manages to be hot.

Ooooooh yes. And in Murder House. I read something the other day that NPH and his husband were offered the parts of the gay couple in AHS: MH, and they turned it down. I LOVED the casting they ended up with, and wouldn't trade it, even for NPH, but can you imagine?

Series three has now appeared on Netflix, no surprise now the new show is on. Got to admit the first episode of series four didn't grab me. It was a bit 'don't call us freaks' while they kill people? Umm and act all freaky...plus the porn. For me it was a bit OTT on trying to hit the 'shock' factor than setting up characters and the like.

Yeah, I agree. It felt like they were trying to be shocking, and I yelled at the telly for the "Don't call us freaks" business. Plus Is it me, or was Elsa's performance of Life on Mars just creepy? I don't know if it was meant to be, but that's how I felt. Also, with her popping into new costume after new costume, and dressing as a candy striper, I got a sort of otherworldly supervillian vibe from her. Almost Joker-esque (if she were more insane and, you know, funny). I did like the twist at the end, when you think all she does is take advantage of people with disbilities, and then you see that she's disabled, too.And what about Twisty the Clown? I didn't find him scary at all. He's just a psycho in a mask. I mean, that should be scary enough, but it felt like the clown part sort of just pandering. Everyone hates clowns, clowns are scary, let's have a killer clown.

All that being said, we're about three episodes in over here, and it's really growing on me. Last week's episode was everything I want AHS to be: moving, creepy, disturbing, heartwarming, and interesting all at the same time. I even like Twisty now! I just think the first episode was too busy introducing all the players and the premise to really do itself justice.

Oooooo, that could be interesting! :D

There's apparently another character from Asylum coming onto the show later in the season, although I purposely didn't read who. How do you guys feel about that? In the past, they've brought back the same actors, but never the same characters. This year they brought Pepper back (and gave her a partner), and now this other, mystery character. I love Pepper, and she certainly does fit the Freak Show theme, but part of me feels like including past characters starts to blur the lines of the different Universes, and muddies the idea that these are all stand-alone stories. Now they're related by similar characters. Are we supposed to believe this is a completely different Pepper? Or are we supposed to assume that after this season is over, she gets put in the Asylum with a bunch of people who look like her old circus troupe? Or am I just being too picky?

Also, I think it would have been super cool to bring back the actress who plays Pepper, but let her look like herself (or some other non-Pepper character).

One thing I adore about the show is how careful they are to be inclusive of minority and underrepresented groups in their writing and casting. With this series, while it might be called "Freak Show", they've been pretty careful to portray them as regular folk who are a little different, is all. And I super love that in Coven (no spoilers, promise), they cast a woman with down's syndrome (Addie from Season 1) in a part that wasn't written as a woman with a genetic disorder. In fact, as far as I could tell, they never once referenced her having any sort of disability, which was awesome. She was just one of the girls, as well she she should have been.

Just watched this week's episode (Freak Show, Episode 4: Edward Mordrake, Part 2).

Ho-lee shit.

What a friggin' roller coaster the last two episodes have been; a gorgeous, heart-thumping way to give us the tortured back stories of some key characters. And I guess we know now how Twisty the Clown got his name. He was really set up to be this season's big bad, so him biting in four episodes in was quite the twist, indeed. And gods, what a tragic history he had. My heart just broke for him, and suddenly the horrid things he did made a kind of sick sense.

And is it just me? I rather fancy Paul "the illustrated seal boy".

I'm enjoying Freak Show. I haven't seen the previous series of American Horror Story ( where have I been) I'll try and find them. I've seen the first tow episodes.

Well, shoot. Guess I have my answer. Not sure how I feel about this. :P

(Incredibly vague spoilers, if you've not seen Asylum. Honestly don't think there's much, but if you're slightly crazy like me, it might bug ya.)

Just started watching the first season the other week, and really enjoying it. I like the randomness of it, and waiting to find out the backgrounds of the various dead folks. And got very excited that Quicksilver's one of the main ones (Tate)! Deeply fond of him. The show's very well pitched. I have a feeling that the Asylum one is going to annoy me (no prizes for guessing why), but am definitely going to keep watching them.

He must be the character played by Mat Fraser, right? That's his favourite act. I love love LOVE Mat Fraser! He may even be my husband. Totally fancy him, even more so now he has grey hair. I've seen him live a couple of times. When I worked at the Operating Theatre he came in once. I was very star struck, but somehow managed to have a conversation with him about the museum. He's awesome!
