The Avengers Assemble was brilliant! It was so witty and clever and just fun.You could see Joss' influence all over it. Good to see Mr Whedon back on form. Plus they have finally managed to The Hulk right, cos in my opinion the last two Hulk films have been pants! Though I don't think the 3D did much for it. I want more Avengers films! NOW!

I hadn't seen Iron Man 2 (sorry I know you're in it! ), Thor, Captain America and didn;t really care about any characters.
BUT....
I bloody LOVED The Avengers. I haven't seen something that fun in ages. The whole cinema was laughing, people even clapped at one point.
In particular I wasn't looking forward to the parts with The Hulk. To me he has always been mindless and totally boring, if I want a frenzied mad attack then I have Wolverine for that.
Ruffalo does such an amazing job as Hulk, I was like this -----> :o
Same really with Captain America. Instantly he wasn't going to be a character I liked. Yeah, so a dude goes and punches people shouting "AMERICA!" Um... not for me. But Chris Evans is wonderful. Filled with such melancholia, he is fab.
Ironman of course is hilarious, Robert Downey Jnr is brilliant in everything, he seems ot have such fun. Again, I had only heard of the character before I saw the first Ironman film and did a face. He sounded too much like a Batman clone and wore a shitty suit. He still has a shitty suit and has too many similarities to Batman but he is great. He is so fun to watch.
Scarlett Johansson apart from Ghost World & Lost on Translation (The Prestige doesn't count, I only care about Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale in that film) cos they are great, her films have not apealed to me, yet, again, Black Widow is really cool, same as Hawkeye.

Loki was gooood. I had worried he'd be a bit cliched mwah ahahahahahaaaaaaaa and in a way he was, but it was a good way.

Thor was the only one (and that random S.H.I.E.L.D. woman) I didn't connect with. Just a bit too silly I think.

If you haven't seen it then gooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Didn't even realise the S.H.E.I.L.D woman was a hero.Yes, Thor was dull. I now what to see Iron Man. I shall have to source them. I was quite surprised as this sort f film isn't my kind of thing, but I loved it!

Went with friends at the weekend to see Prometheus. Amazing! I was quite prepared to be a little disappointed (because NOTHING could ever match Alien but wow! Ridley Scott still has it. I would go indepth but sure if everyone has seen it yet!

Oh man I really want to see Jaws on the big screen. It is one of my favourite films ever, so so good even after repeated viewings. Quint telling his story just gets me ever single time I watch it.

Re Prometheus. Yeah, it is a STUNNING film, wow the beginning made me gasp, and David is just sheer brilliance, but the plot holes are ridiculous and it wasn't scary. I thought about it a lot afterwards aand it obviously had a lot cut out because so much was rushed or forgotten and... Aliens will forever be my favourite. Bloody LOVE Aliens.

I really need to get to see Prometheus.

I went to see Snow White and the Huntsman. It was ok. Plot obviously what you expect, visuals great, dwarfs brilliant casting, Chris lovely to.look at but with an awful Scottish accent.

Agreed. I don't know how SFX could only give it three stars? WHAT?! We were discussing the plot holes after and weren't sure if they were or there for some kind of sequel.

Have started re watching Alien films due to seeing the above last week. Now I've seen three I'm giving up the will to live a bit!

I don;t think I explained myself as best as I could.
Stunning as in visually stunning. It is gorgeous, everything looks so beautiful. The opening waterfall shot (actually shot in Iceland) was WOW.
The film however is far far far from stunningly brilliant. Far to many plot holes, pointless characters that are weak for even cannon fodder. Ridiculous stupidity on behalf of the screen writer...

I don't know what star rating I would give it until I have seen it on the small screen, but it won't be a high rating.

I saw Moonrise Kingdom today and ... yeah, not bad.
It isn't brilliant and probably wouldn't watch it again and it certainly isn't Wes Anderson's best film, but it worked, the young actors playing the main roles were fantastic and I did enjoy watching it.

This video poses some questions about Prometheus.
If anyone can answer the questions then please do!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x1YuvUQ ... _embedded#!

(I love the guy asking the questions, he is Mr Plinkett who does truly hilarious and very very detailed critiques of shit films - and also some films I don't mind. When I say detailed we are talking hours. And hours. His reviews of Star Wars are probably as long as the films themselves. But he is fab.)

I have just come back from the cinema, I saw Killer Joe.
I had seen the trailer who I was at the cinema watching Moonlight Kingdom and I thought it looked excellent.
I did enjoy it, but some parts had me thinking WHUT?!
The acting was fantastic all round, Matthew McConaughey haas never been someone I liked watching, to me he was just in films to be a tall blond hunk, he always seemed a bit of a jerk. Now this film hasn't turned me into a fan but it did show that he can act (he also wears rapist gloves and if I looked at the gloves I felt happy in my Lady garden but ignored his face).

The huh? bits were: Someone is beaten up, his face afterwards looks like a child had got hold of their Mum's make up and decided huge circles of pruple on a cheek and a red line cross the head in lipstick = good make up. Um... no. I could have done better in 5 minutes, if you watch then you will agree, it was piss poor and distracting.
Another part is that the trailer gives away almost all of the plot and it annoyed me, this is happening more and more with modern films and television. I am trying so hard not to read plots and stuff now and it is hard work.
Take the trailer for the new Batman film. Comic Book fans know Bane breaks Batman's back but why should everyone need to know this? Yet the trailer tells us that Bane is in the film, that he beats Batman and lots of stuff gets blown up. A trailer should set up the film not have plot details for a good 2/3 of the film.
Also, social media like Twitter & Facebook lead to spoilers, I think it is high tide films were released ont he same day across countries because someone is always going to end up overhearing/reading someone else giving away spoilers.
Supernatural on Facebook told me a HUGE spoiler and I went ARGGGG cos I didn't wanna know that at all. So then I have to hide them and then miss other stuff like the possibility of Jensen needing a bed to stay in on a random trip to SW London.

ANYWAY. The 'twist' in Killer Joe is pointed towards in the trailer so if you want to see a good film about a hitman being hired by some dumb rednecks then go see it, just don't watch the trailer.

I can't comment on the films you've talked about but I agree about trailers and spoilers on social media. I had to hide the True Blood page because it spoiled but then I read an article and got spoiled anyway because the US gets it before us so it's not spoiling to them. So annoying.

Well, we get spoiled here, too. If it's not the trailer showing every bloody beat of the film, it's leaked stuff or friends who saw advanced screenings as part of their jobs, etc. I have to plug my ears, *beep* up my eyes, and go, "blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!" if I don't want to get spoiled on stuff. :/

EDIT: Hahahahahah! That was scr*w up my eyes. Can't believe that got bleeped. Makes what I said sound WAY worse (or at least very confusing).

The trailer thing gets my goat. It's supposed to wet your appetite not tell you the whole story. I've lost count of how many times I have said "no need to see that then" after seeing a trailer. Pisses me right off.
