Has anyone seen Total Recall? Thoughts? I'd like to see it just to see. Also that Looper being advertised now looks good.

I don't know. People may love the first and be annoyed if a remake changes too much.

I never pay to see anything. I just wait til they're on tv. Doesn't bother me at all. Not that desperate to see anything!

On a related note, Avengers may be cheap in tesco this week (it is on their site anyway) and I'm considering buying it if only because I may love Loki and it's Joss and people have raved. Do people reckon I'm ok to go straight to it without seeing all the preceeding films? I basically know nothing about the characters apart from Iron Man and The Hulk possibly. Should I see more of the other films first? I probably won't end up getting it anyway as am getting far behind with my tv this week and that takes precedence! Plus am working the weekend so not gonna have a lot of time. But just in case... Thanks!

I think I will because am having a difficult week and need something awesome! Am a bit worried it's been hyped up and I'll be disappointed. I am always disappointed at films people rave about. I must expect too much. But you know what? I'm sure I'll enjoy it. It's Joss and I love action films. And I can perve at least. I will do what you said re reading up a bit because am pretty ignorant of the characters tbh. I'm more of an X Men person. Thanks for the advice. I will repaaaaaaarrrrt back. Not sure when I'll be getting to the supermarket as I'm so busy but hopefully I can watch it when I'm off on Monday.

Well Twitter people are already aware I wasn't blown away by Avengers and pretty glad I didn't buy it now. I did enjoy it, don't get me wrong, but I don't really understand the fuss. Pretty average superhero film to me. That doesn't mean it was bad. Superhero films are great. But I didn't think it was anything special. :?

I felt the big threat came too quickly without enough build up to introduce you to the characters. But I understand that has been done with the previous films. Then it was just the same old silly 'this weird thing will destroy the earth' plot and a big fight and it's done. Yes, that is what these type of films are and that is why we love them but that just led to it being pretty similar to all other superhero films. I think Iron Man is great. I have seen the first Iron Man so maybe that's one reason. Thor is adorable and Loki is awesome. The humour was nice but nothing you didn't get in X Men. I did enjoy it a lot but I just don't understand this reaction as if it's something we've never seen before. If it helps, I can't stop thinking about Loki and the mewling quim speech.

Yes, that's the one. It hasn't had great reviews but I haven't seen it so can't comment. I don't like romantic comedies but I could make an exception for Tennant.

I think you would only love Loki if you were attracted to villain characters.

I don't know who Cobie Smulders is but her name sounds made up!

Has anyone seen Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter? Is it as bad as I suspect?

Watched Cockneys vs Zombies yesterday and I thought it was brilliant. Very funny. You've not lived until you've seen Richard Briers with a machine gun! Plus Michelle Ryan. Swearing. A lot. Did it for me!

Went to my friends for a few days over new year and we had a cheesey movie horror day.

Have any of you seen the following as I thought they were quite good. First was Dead Snow (which was a Swedish zombie fest) and was really quite funny, Wake Wood which was the first film Hammer made when the restarted production in 2008. It has Aiden Gillian in which should appeal to you ladies! We did watch loads, but these were only ones of note. I won't give my verdict on The Wicker Tree!

Agree the 3D was annoying. Blurry at parts too but for the most I forgot about it. Loved seeing old Bilbo and Frodo again. When watching the premier thingy on tv they were saying that Bilbo isnt as instant of a love as Frodo but i think Martin Freemans delivery makes him. Amazing stuff. All the dwarf characters are brilliant. Husband Thorin was super, super hot. I didn't think I could love him more but turns out I can.

Also the first few minutes of Star Trek were frigging amazing. I can't get enough of Cumberbatch or Armitage right now and got a shot of both at the cinema today. Happy lady.

Go see The Hobbit now people.
I did. It was amazing. I haven't enjoyed a film so much in a while. I like also that my sentiments are also in parallel with Bilbos - (like "don't leave the stew" and "that cheese is good cheese"). It was so good that the 3d did not annoy me as much as I anticipated. I'd say more but PNW summed it up.

Thorin was unexpected. All I can say - good call, Astrid. I would have got in there. Although Kili was also a bit fit. Are dwarves supposed to be hot? Peter Jackson's joke as he clearly has dwarf blood and is messing with our expectations.

I finally saw Django Unchained on the airplane going to the US. I really liked it. Like PNW said the female roles were thin on the ground but I really enjoyed it. I loved the soundtrack and Jamie Foxx was very good.

Voodoo Lady wrote:I did really appreciate that the PTB had tried to disguise Khan's identity from the fans by calling him a different Trek villain's name. Too bad people on FB spoiled it immediately after watching. I would have LOVED to have experienced that moment of surprise when the reveal happened.

Well my Star Trek experience is limited to Next Generation, Enterprise and a little of the original series so I knew nothing of the plot and so I had no issues with the film at all. I loved it and it was my first experience of 3D and IMAX and I've had to admit that I got a real thrill from it despite my protestations that every film is now 3D and it's all a con to charge people more. I do kind of want to see it again in 2D though. The fact I want to see it again at the cinema and not even wait for tv or even dvd is amazing. I think it's just for Benedict reasons though really. I need to see that performance again and take in every single second.

I just guessed who he was from reading speculation. Think it was pretty much confirmed for me by an article I read the day I saw it but I knew really anyway

"Are you going to hit me in the face again and again and again and again until your arm weakens?" And of course, fangurl me swooned when Khan said, "I'm better," Kirk or Spock or someone not played by Cumberbatch responded, "At what." Khan: "Everything." =drool=
INDEED! The 'hit me' bit turns me on to quite a ridiculous degree. How on earth does someone come up with saying a line like that. He's just a genius. And how does he make his eyes look evil? I am in awe. The 'better at everything' bit was also beyond squee-inducing. :D
