If you want to buy one to have internet on your telly then make sure it has wireless.
I put in my router password when prompted and now loads of stuff pops up on my telly asking if I want to use BBC iPlayer, 5Player thing, Youtube etc... It has a thing for LoveFilm (which I'd probably do if I was living by myself, my landlord eats the broadband in the evenings), I can do pay per view films, stream music etc...
I just googled 'Best Bluray Players' and a site came up with some really good advice. I then looked at the prices of the players I liked the look of and read the Amazon reviews to double check and made my choice.
I never thought I'd notice the difference but I was at a friends house and he showed me the difference between BBC1 and BBC1HD and it really was a big difference. My telly is HD but the Freeview isn't so I thought I might as well get a Bluray player to try to get the best out of it.
I know that sooner rather than later the next step in technology will come along but I was late to the DVD change from VHS and late to MP3 from CD. I'll only get a tablet when the Kindle Fire is released in the UK. I can never afford brand new technology (apart from the Kindle actually and I can't praise it enough). Plus Blurays are now the price DVDs used to be when I first got my DVD player and I earn more now
