Sarah is right. YOU are the only one who can do summat about this, otherwise you'll never get a break and you'll go mad and end up a clocktower with a rifle.
You are legally entitled to holidays so put your foot down.
Tell your manager you will be getting legal advice unless the situation is sorted.

Well it doesn't affect me as I don't work there anymore. But boy does it make me feel smug!

Had a e mail yesterday from my boss that managers have to fill in a self appraisal form to be sent back to him by christmas with a view to a in person review in January.

It is that long winded and no where I have a chance to say what I think. There are questions about how I am going to motivate my self to improve in the following areas Food Safety/Environment/Health and Hygiene, MAP (finance) and People (customers) for the companies benefit.

I have to do a Action plan for self improvement within the business, which I no idea where to start on

I always thought an appraisal was so I could talk about how I feel and how I want to go forward in my career? Is this other peope understanding.

Personally I don't think appraisals are worth the paper they are written on. Has anyone ever had one where they have said they are unhappy with something and the situation has been improved as a result?

All this has annoyed me plus the fact that he he mis spelt appraisal all they way through the e mail it was attached to. Can't see how he can do an appraisal when he can't spell it!!

I hate corporate crap like that.
It's all designed so you have to rate the company highly.
It's like me. We get visits from higher up people int he company yet they never ask us the right questions or let us talk to them about anything apart from what they want to hear.
Just ONCE I'd like to be really asked what I think, what my ideas are.
Today i made points about things but in the end the manager ignored my points of view (which were valid) and did her own thing.
I feel like an idiot.
*hugs Paul*

If there is anyway you can (and have space, there is never enough space) challenge their wording, go off at a tangent and write about stuff you want to write about then do.
But I know it's hard :(

In our appraisals we have to have all that objective rubbish. It's so pointless. But I do also get a chance to say how I feel the year has gone etc. I wouldn't bring up major problems though because there's no point but that's because of how mine works, who does it etc. I was told I didn't have to have one this year cos we were basically in limbo about our jobs with our section closing down then a few weeks later was told that cos we now knew we were safe we had to have it. Yeah but we didn't know what we were going to be doing so how could we have objectives? D'oh! Fudged it anyway as usual. They are all for show really. To show we are looking at how we can improve. I can't improve! I'm perfect!

Waitressing and bar work at the local football stadium. They lease out really posh function rooms to Compass Catering, who are amazing to work for. Biggest catering company in the world, which means I can easily transfer when I go to uni, they pay really well and are extremely flexible with the rota!

Plus, I might get to do the occasional shift in one of the VIP suite boxes which pay humongous tips and also players lunches which means I might get to spot to odd VIP/Celebrity. :)

Bit of a result I think!
