Does anyone know if there are any pics?

Postby Geoff Tipps' Joke Writer » Mon Feb 12, 2007 10:59 am

Mark stars in a Radio Four adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's 'The Loved Ones' next Saturday, 17th February at 2.30pm:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/progin ... /sat.shtml

The Saturday Play
The Loved One
By Evelyn Waugh, adapted by Jonathan Holloway.

California, just after the Second World War: An elderly Englishman, who once made a living as a Hollywood scriptwriter, has taken in a younger version of the same species who is also struggling to make his way in the new world.

He thought he was a poet once, but now earns a living in a pet cemetery. Preoccupied with dead things, he meets a young female embalmer and suddenly everything begins to go right.

Evelyn Waugh's novel has been called 'one of the funniest and most significant books of the 20th Century'.

Oh my giddy aunt! I love it when Mark does radio. Wasn't his character in the New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes wonderful? I can't wait to see what he does with this.

Mmmmm!

Haha, his outfit is a bit Reece-y, isn't it? :D

Lovely pictures, though. I was in that exact part of Islington on various occasions in November. Why did I not see Mark? Eh? EH?? :P

Mark in 'The Loved One' on Radio Four...

Postby Geoff Tipps' Joke Writer » Sun Feb 18, 2007 5:09 pm

Did anyone manage to listen to 'The Loved One' yesterday?

It was brilliant ! A really great adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel about the funeral business in Hollywood - a well written, witty script.

All the cast was excellent & Mark was outstanding as Mr JoyBoy, a rather sinister embalmer in Hollywood. He sounded like a smoky, velvet voiced Liberace with a touch of Clare Quilty (from Stanley Kubrick's version of 'Lolita'). It was a brilliant performance!

It can be heard for the next seven days on the Radio Four website via 'Listen Again'...

Yeah, I turned it off. I was so distracted by the terrible woman in it, who just seemed to be reading out her line's rather than attempting any acting.
Pity :(
